There is nothing more powerful than the children of God uniting in steadfast prayer. When this happens, transformation happens! 

 

Weekly prayer points will be send to all Prayer Circle coordinators that have signed up to become part of SA Prayer Circles. They can also compile their own prayer points that are relevant to their cities.

This page offers a number of general prayer points that believers can pray to bring about restoration in their cities. It will be updated from time to time.

TIPS: 

  • Remember to start a Prayer Circle with praise and thanksgiving to the Lord.

  • Encourage people to pray Scripture over the city.

  • Allocate a prayer point to each person in the Prayer Circle.

  • Allow for the Holy Spirit to guide prayer soldiers in their prayers.

  • Pray blessings over problem areas in the city.

PRAYER POINTS FOR CITY RESTORATION

 

THIS WEEK'S PRAYER POINTS:

Dear Prayer Partners, this is our Prayer Points for the week:

  • Give the city and country over to God: let us give our city and country over in the hands of the Lord, asking Him to take control in every area,  moving hearts and minds for His Kingdom purpose;

  • Repentance : bring to God every activity in our city (name them) that is not in line with His will and Word, ask for God's guidance, forgiveness and renewal

  • Pray Jeremiah 29:7 over our city:
    Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

  • Your suburb: Each suburb has it's own problems.  Pray to God to reveal to you what needs to change according to His will in your own suburb and bring it to God in faith and earnest prayer.

PREVIOUS PRAYER POINTS:

Dear prayer partners, this week, let us pray for:

  • Protection: pray that the Lord's hand will protect our city from evil, as many leave their homes.

  • Safety: pray that the Lord will keep us all safe on the roads and in our homes during this season.

  • Joy of the Lord: pray that His joy will fill the city; all depression and sadness break in the name of Jesus.

  • Provision: pray for supernatural and abundant provision during this time, for the poor, the jobless, the broken people in our city.

  • Hearts given to Jesus: let us pray for deep change and transformation in the hearts of those who do not know Him in our city.

May the Holy Spirit flood our city during this Christmas season. May His light shine in the darkness! May the fullness and goodness of the Lord fill every home,  every family, every business, every hospital, every street, every park, every heart in our city!

Let us pray for a CULTURE OF PRAYER to be established in our city and country.

Prayer is our God-given gift,  honor, responsibility and strongest weapon against the enemy!

Let us pray for:

  • A fresh awareness and hunger to pray amongst all people in our city and country;

  • Praying Gods will : that we will be led by the Holy Spirit to pray in line with God's will;

  • Perseverance in prayer;

  • Steadfast faith when we pray;

  • Hearing God's voice when we pray;

  • More Prayer Circles to be established country wide;

  • Time to pray: that we will make time for prayer and prioritize prayer in our city and country.

  • Churches to stand together to become one, united voice against decay in our city and country.

  • Unity in families : restoration of God's order

  • Unity between cultures and ethnic groups: God's love to unite us.

Let us pray for divine HEALING in our city!
1 Peter 2:24, “He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live what is right. By His wounds, you are healed.”

Please pray for:

  •  Mental health and depression: many suffer, 'suicide season' is coming up. Break this work of the devil in the name of Jesus!

  • Terminal illnesses: bring every person to the feet of the Cross, pray for new hope, miracles, and divine intervention. Nothing is impossible for God! Lazarus was dead, and Jesus raised him.

  • Finances to afford treatment: pray to the Lord for financial breakthroughs for those who suffer due to a lack of funds for treatment.

  • Elderly in our city: pray for new strength, hope, joy in the Lord, divine health.

  • Road safety: pray protection over our roads,  that the Lord's angels protect us and prevent accidents.

  • Addictions : let us pray against the strongholds of alcohol and drug addictions in our city.

  • Doctors : pray that the Lord guides them and uses them as instruments to bring  healing to the sick of our city.

  • Specific people: pray for people in the Prayer Circle that have ailments, or people that you know that are ill/ suffering.

  • Stress : pray for inner peace and calmness and in the hearts and minds of our cities' people.

Sickness is not God's will for our lives. Let us trust in the finished work of the cross to heal our city

Let us pray for CHURCHES and the BODY of Christ in our city:​ 

Matthew 5:14-15  You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 

  • Word of God: pray that churches will influence people and policy-makers to uphold the values and principles of His Word in our city.

  • Unity: pray that churches will be unified as one body in Christ in our city.

  • Churches to grow: pray that the Holy Spirit leads lukewarm believers and lost people to join churches.

  • Body of Christ: pray that the body of Christ to rise up in boldness and faith, resisting the work of the work of the enemy in our city

Let us pray SCRIPTURE over our city. (Isaiah 55:11 So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.)
Let us pray in agreement with God's Word (bring your Bible!):

  • Declare that we will serve the Lord in this city! Jos 24:15: "But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

  • Prosperity, hope and a future, seeking God: Jeremiah 29:11-13  "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

  • Protection: Pray Psalm 91 over our city! Bring your Bible.

  • Jesus first: Math 6: 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Please bring other Scriptures to pray over our city.

The levels of POLLUTION in our cities are deeply disturbing. Let us pray to God to help us find effective ways to clean our city! When God's light outshines the darkness - order, cleanliness, holiness and perfection are revealed. 

  • Pray for the situation in townships: unthinkable heaps of rubbish cause illness and decay.

  • Pray for the municipality to restore proper waste management in our city.

  • Pray for volunteers and resources to initiate cleanup projects.

  • Pray for financial resources in the city to establish cleanliness.

Cleanliness is godliness!

Today let us pray that GOD'S KINGDOM TO BE ESTABLISHED in our city:

  • Repentance: That the Holy Spirit will bring all residents in this city to repentance: Mark 1:15 And saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

  • The Gospel to be taught with boldness and without hindrance in our city. Matt 4:17  Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.

  • God’s will to reign in our city and not the enemy’s agenda. Matt 6:10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven to be established in our city.

  • Righteousness and peace and joy:  Rom 14:17: For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

  • Ambassadors for Christ to influence all sectors of society in our city. 2 Cor 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us...

  • Kingdom first: That God’s Kingdom will be placed first, above all other things. Matt 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

PRAY FOR BROKEN PEOPLE IN THE CITY:

  • Prisoners: pray that they meet Jesus while in jail, hearts to soften, new direction, new hope 

  • Alcoholics: pray for dependency to break, that they lean on Jesus, love and support.

  • Jobless people: new opportunities, new hope, honest ways to earn money.

  • Criminals: deep change of hearts, break the power of the enemy over them.

  • Depressed people:restoration through Christ, renewal of their minds, joy of the Lord.

  • Beggars: Jesus to intervene in their lives, that they know the Lord, turn to Him for help.

  • Prostitutes: restoration through the Holy Spirit, that Jesus meets them in their needs, longings, brokenness.

Let us pray for our city's MUNICIPALITY:

Please pray earnestly for God's powerful intervention in the name of Jesus:

  • Holy Spirit to take control and God's will to be established in our city's municipality;

  • Conflict between factions to resolve in the name of Jesus;

  • Transparency and honesty during all meetings.

  • Corruption to be brought to light and dealt with.

  • Godly protection for believers in the municipality who are under attack.

Let as stand together in UNITY and pray that the light removes the darkness in our municipality! (Mat 18:19).

Please pray for other points as the Holy Spirit guides.

Let us pray for deeper PURIFICATION (reiniging) and SANCTIFICATION (heiligmaking) of every believer in the city:

  • Sanctification: That the Lord will move with His Holy Spirit to bring all believers in the city to deeper levels of sanctification in their hearts, minds, lives and spirits;

  • Spiritual maturity: that the body of Christ in Potchefstroom may grow to higher levels of spiritual maturity, being true light and salt .

  • Purification: that the Lord guides His children to "purify us from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God." 2 Corinthians 7:1

  • Becoming vessels for the Lord in the city: Timothy 2:21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

Please also pray for specific aspects in YOUR suburb!

Speak LIFE over the city and pray Scripture over the city.​​

PRAY FOR RESTORATION IN TOWNSHIPS:

  • Housing: pray for finances, municipalities to transform.

  • Jobs: pray for job creation and poverty alleviation. 

  • Pollution: pray for godly intervention, plans, wisdom and service delivery.

  • Revival: pray for residents to turn to Christ. Pray for churches.

  • Water, electricity and infrastructure: basic needs to be met.

  • Schools: pray for books, infrastructure, food, transport. 

  • Families: pray against domestic violence, pray for love and security.

Let us pray AGAINST THE ENEMY'S PLANS in our city:

Let us pray strategically against the enemy's  agenda in our city:

Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  

- Abortion
- Same gender marriages
- Moral decay in youth
- Lack of Word-based guidance and discipline in our schools
- Corruption
- All forms of crime

Let us bring our city's LEADERS to the Lord:

If they will lead by the Spirit, our city will transform radically! Let us pray for deep spiritual growth and powerful revival in every person in a leadership role.

  • Community leaders & projects

  • Church leaders, youth pastors

  • Counselors and coaches

  • Police

Let us bring our city's FINANCES to the Lord:

  • Job creation: pray for supernatural intervention by the Lord;

  • Municipality: restoration of finances, godly management of funds;

  • Business sector: new growth and opportunities;

  • Schools: money for books, food, infrastructure;

  • Poverty: godly provision, jobs - break the spirit of poverty and the enemy's work;

  • Honesty with money: no stealing, corruption.

  • And other points as the Holy Spirit guides.

Know as we pray these points, powerful changes are initiated in the spiritual and earthy realms.

LET US PRAY AGAINST CRIME IN THE CITY:

Let us stop the enemy in his tracks! Pray that the devil's plans

will not succeed, but that God's will shall reign in our city:

Prayer Points:

  • Come against the following in the name of Jesus:

    • Drug syndicates

    • Corruption

    • Human trafficking

    • All forms of violence

    • Murder

    • All forms of theft and dishonesty, etc. 

  • Pray for the police: efficiency, God to assist them.

  • Pray for protection: God's angels to protect residents against crime.

  • Pray for peace, harmony, God's light to remove the darkness.

  • Pray for criminals: for hearts to change, to meet the Lord.

PRAY FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE CITY:

  • Addictions to break in the name of Jesus Christ.

  • Godly young leaders to rise up in the Lord.

  • Marriages: new love, unity, understanding. Break the enemy's plan of divorce.

  • Parent-children relationships: to be infused with God's love and wisdom.

  • Domestic violence: pray for God's intervention and hearts to turn to Him. Restoration.

  • Poverty: pray that God will supernaturally care for the needs of every family in this city.

  • Happy family life: pray for love, laughter, respect, support, safety, security and God's light to overtake the darkness in every family in this city.

  • New godly families: pray that young women and men to fix their eyes on Jesus as they search life partners.
